LANA is a Japanese Imabari towel by Kontex, woven in Ehime, Japan from 100% cotton, in four sizes from a 36 × 36 cm / 14.2 × 14.2 in kitchen cloth to an 85 × 145 cm / 33.5 × 57.1 in blanket size. Lana is Italian for wool, and the weave is built to behave like a knit: breathable and light, while remaining entirely cotton. Three colours.

The finely textured three-dimensional weave allows air to pass through the fabric and creates a smooth, comfortable touch throughout the year.

Size S dries quickly and works well as a kitchen cloth. M suits the kitchen or washroom, L can also be used as a pillow cover, and XL as a blanket or shawl.

LANA is woven to behave like a knit while remaining 100% cotton. Its finely textured, three-dimensional weave creates a light, breathable feel with a distinctive cashmere-like softness, while retaining the easy care of a cotton towel made for daily use.

The airy construction gives LANA its characteristic lightness and comfortable feel, distinguishing it from a conventional dense pile towel.

Low-speed looms

Woven in Imabari on traditional low-speed looms, from more than 150 yarn blends Kontex develops in house. Weaving slowly keeps tension off the yarn, so the fibres hold their natural loft.

Soft water finish

Finished with the pure soft water of Imabari's local river systems, the water the region's gentle dyeing and washing is known for. It is what gives the towels their absorbency.

Kontex

Founded in 1934 in Imabari, Ehime (Japan's most celebrated towel-making region), Kontex has spent nearly a century perfecting the craft of the towel. Each piece is woven on traditional low-speed looms using over 150 custom-developed yarn blends, then washed with pure soft water drawn from local river systems. The result is a towel of exceptional absorbency, rapid drying, and enduring quality, crafted with care for both the user and the environment.
