PREMIUM ORGANIC is a pile Japanese Imabari towel by Kontex, woven in Ehime, Japan from 100% organic cotton, in three sizes: 33 × 38 cm / 13 × 15 in, 33 × 85 cm / 13 × 33.5 in and 67 × 127 cm / 26.4 × 50 in. One colour, ivory.
Kontex has been weaving in Imabari since 1934, and this is the series its own weavers put forward. The yarn is fine enough to be difficult to weave, and it is used generously in a long pile. The twist is deliberately loose: that is what gives the towel its absorbency, and what leaves it with body rather than limpness once it has been washed.
Organic cotton is grown without agricultural chemicals, and the fibre keeps enough elasticity to come back soft through repeated washing — soft enough to use on a baby. The towel carries the Imabari Towel brand mark, which a towel is only permitted after passing the region’s absorbency and quality testing. There is no decoration on it whatsoever, which is much of why it is chosen as a gift.

100% Organic Cotton
Founded in 1934 in Imabari, Ehime (Japan's most celebrated towel-making region), Kontex has spent nearly a century perfecting the craft of the towel. Each piece is woven on traditional low-speed looms using over 150 custom-developed yarn blends, then washed with pure soft water drawn from local river systems. The result is a towel of exceptional absorbency, rapid drying, and enduring quality, crafted with care for both the user and the environment.
