Ein Vorratsgefäß, das vermutlich Ende des 19. bis Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts in Grottaglie in Apulien, Süditalien, oder in der Umgebung gefertigt wurde.
Es diente wahrscheinlich zur Aufbewahrung von Oliven sowie gesalzenen oder in Öl eingelegten Lebensmitteln. Die Öffnung wurde mit einem Tuch bedeckt und unterhalb des Randes mit einer Schnur befestigt.
Die große, aufrecht ansteigende Form wirkt schlicht und kraftvoll und eignet sich auch sehr schön für Zweige.
