Vor Ort als „Bubulo“, im Plural „Bubuli“, bezeichnet, handelt es sich um ein Bauelement aus Terrakotta, das traditionell in der apulischen Architektur verwendet wurde.
Es kam vor allem als Bestandteil von Gewölbedecken zum Einsatz. Im Vergleich zu Stein oder Tuffstein verringerte es das Gewicht des Bauwerks, während der eingeschlossene Luftraum zugleich zur Wärmedämmung beitrug.
Ein Objekt, das die regionale Baukultur Apuliens spürbar macht.
