Een voorraadpot voor levensmiddelen, gemaakt in Zuid-Italië, in de streek tussen Puglia en Basilicata.

In huishoudelijke keukens werd hij dagelijks gebruikt voor het bewaren van onder meer reuzel, gezouten olijven en tomatensaus.

Hoewel het in de eerste plaats functioneel volksaardewerk is, geeft de met lokale traditionele technieken aangebrachte decoratie elk stuk het karakter van een klein schilderij.

In de eenvoudige uitstraling komen het vakmanschap van de maker en de plaatselijke eetcultuur samen, waardoor het vat de volkskunst van Zuid-Italië belichaamt.
