Een voorraadpot die vermoedelijk aan het einde van de 19e of het begin van de 20e eeuw is gemaakt in Grottaglie, Puglia, in Zuid-Italië, of in de omgeving.
Waarschijnlijk werd hij gebruikt voor het bewaren van olijven en andere gezouten of in olie geconserveerde voedingsmiddelen. De opening werd met een doek afgedekt en met een koord onder de rand vastgebonden.
De grote, rechtopgaande vorm heeft een eenvoudige, krachtige uitstraling en is ook mooi te gebruiken voor takken.
