An old piece of daily-use pottery, believed to have been made in the vicinity of Calvello, Basilicata, in Southern Italy during the 19th century.

The glaze, which has a grayish tint characteristic of the Basilicata inland region, is covered in a fine network of crazing.

The overall warped, undulating form of the vessel also conveys the laid-back charm unique to Southern Italian folk pottery.
