Antique Grottaglie Vase "Ciarla"
ambiantA two-handled decorative jar known as a "ciarla," believed to have been made in Grottaglie, Apulia, in southern Italy around the 19th century.
It was primarily used as an interior decoration.
It features a simple design with bold blue lines circling an ivory-white glaze.
Its slightly tilted form has a certain charm, and the accidental marks created during the manufacturing process—such as the round residue left on the body and the blue glaze running down the handles—add wonderful character to this small piece of antique pottery.
