VITA is a Japanese Imabari hand and face towel by Kontex, woven in Ehime, Japan from 100% cotton, in a 32 × 34 cm / 12.6 × 13.4 in hand size and a 40 × 85 cm / 15.7 × 33.5 in face and body size. A soft, absorbent pile in a mottled, heathered colour. Three colours.
The colour is set in the cotton before it is spun, not in the finished cloth. Several shades are dyed separately and drawn together into a single yarn, so no two lengths of thread carry quite the same tone. That is where the mottling comes from, and why the surface holds more depth than a piece-dyed towel of the same colour. It is an uncommon way to colour a towel, and it is the reason VITA reads as wool at a glance while remaining entirely cotton.
It combines a refined, wool-like look with moderate volume and dependable absorbency. The calm colours suit bathroom interiors and make it a versatile unisex gift.

Founded in 1934 in Imabari, Ehime (Japan's most celebrated towel-making region), Kontex has spent nearly a century perfecting the craft of the towel. Each piece is woven on traditional low-speed looms using over 150 custom-developed yarn blends, then washed with pure soft water drawn from local river systems.
