BUBULI

A Bubulo is a hollow terracotta architectural element used in the traditional vaulted buildings of Puglia in Southern Italy. Its hollow body reduced weight compared with construction made only from stone or tuff, while the enclosed air contributed insulation. The plural used here is Bubuli.
