Antique Terracotta Lid

Italian terracotta lid, circa 17th-18th century.

My guess would be Southern Italy or Sicily.

It is believed that it was used as a lid for storage containers such as amphorae, or as a lid for cooking.

I can imagine them being used in conjunction with terracotta amphorae.
