Ähnliche Formen sind auch aus Grottaglie bekannt, doch solche Vorratsgefäße wurden in vielen Gegenden Süditaliens, darunter Kalabrien und die Basilikata, hergestellt und im Alltag verwendet.
Der rötlichbraune Scherben, die honigfarbene Glasur im Inneren und die einfache Form lassen dieses Stück als Volkskeramik aus der Umgebung Kalabriens erscheinen.
Auch bei ähnlich geformten Vorratsgefäßen unterscheiden sich Tonfarbe und Glasurausdruck je nach Region leicht; in jedem Stück spürt man eine eigene Landschaft, geprägt von Klima und Boden des jeweiligen Ortes.
