南イタリアのマグカップ

ambiant

A small ceramic mug discovered in Southern Italy.

While not ancient, I was drawn to the glaze, which combines the yellow and green glazes characteristic of everyday pottery from Puglia, and the design that makes the movement of the flowing glaze itself a picturesque feature.

When liquid is added, slight water stain-like changes may appear due to absorption into the unglazed clay. (It does not leak.)

This small ceramic piece is perfect for quietly enjoying the flow of the glaze and the layering of colors on a shelf or table.

Origin

Italian antique ceramics quietly bear the imprint of the land's climate and history. The rustic vessels born from the dry earth of Southern Italy, the refined designs nurtured in the North. At ambiant, we focus on introducing pieces that embody the "beauty of use"—vessels that have been used in daily life—rather than decorative beauty.
