Antique Provence Pitcher "Gargoulette" 1800s

A 19th century yellow-glazed southern French pottery pitcher.

Locally known as "Gargoulette," this form was mainly used to carry wine or water to the fields.

It was also used to keep wine fresh by submerging it in a nearby spring or cool stream.
