Antique Provence Pitcher "Gargoulette" 1800s

19th century yellow-glazed southern French pottery jug.

Locally called "Gargoulette", this type of jar was mainly used to hold wine or water and carry it to work in the fields.

It was also used to keep wine fresh by soaking it in the cold water of a nearby spring or stream.
