Antique Grottaglie Confit Pot
ambiantA food storage container believed to have been made in or around Grottaglie, Puglia, in southern Italy, during the 19th century.
It was used for storing items such as olives, salted foods, or foods preserved in oil. It is thought to have been used by covering the opening with cloth and securing it with a cord tied beneath the rim.
The large form rises straight up. Its rustic and powerful appearance also makes it well suited for arranging flowering branches.
