Details
MOKU Light is a lightweight Imabari towel by Kontex, designed for everyday life, travel, sport, gyms and saunas. It is woven from fine cotton yarn that Kontex describes as approximately 1.5 times finer than the yarn used in conventional towels, with a smooth gauze surface on one side and absorbent pile on the other.

Is MOKU Light gauze or pile?
Both. One side has a smooth gauze surface and the other uses absorbent pile. This two-sided construction keeps the towel thin and light while retaining the absorbency of a pile surface.
Why does MOKU Light dry quickly?
Kontex explains that its fine cotton yarn and weaving method create a thin, breathable towel that dries quickly. Because it is thin, it is also easy to wring out between uses.
Is MOKU Light suitable for sauna and travel?
Yes. Its thin, lightweight construction folds down compactly and is easy to wring out, making it practical for travel, gyms and sauna use. Kontex lists the M size at approximately 50 g.
Which MOKU Light size should I choose?
S works well for hands and face; M is a versatile choice for face, kitchen, sauna and travel; L provides more coverage for bathing, the beach and larger household use.
What is the difference between MOKU Light and MOKU Linen?
MOKU Light is 100% cotton with a gauze-and-pile construction. MOKU Linen blends 60% cotton with 40% linen, giving it a crisper, drier feel than the all-cotton MOKU Light.

Founded in 1934 in Imabari, Ehime (Japan's most celebrated towel-making region), Kontex has spent nearly a century perfecting the craft of the towel. Each piece is woven on traditional low-speed looms using over 150 custom-developed yarn blends, then washed with pure soft water drawn from local river systems. The result is a towel of exceptional absorbency, rapid drying, and enduring quality, crafted with care for both the user and the environment.
